Join us on Friday night May 31st for a rare thought-provoking, fun sensory experience: freshly prepared sushi paired with appropriate and unique wines from around the world. The event will feature authentic Japanese sushi from Hiro Hattori of Sanraku Japanese Restaurant and the wines personally curated by Master Sommelier and founder of the San Francisco Wine School David Glancy. David is one of 12 people in the world to hold the revered Master Sommelier diploma and a Certified Wine Educator credential He is a fun guy lacking even an atom of pretension who possesses an uncanny palate and has a commanding knowledge of all things wine. He is booked solid a year in advance, so this is a very rare opportunity.
$125.00 per person for sushi & wine pairing (20% Service Charge & Sales tax will be added at conclusion of event)

Where do the chefs go to eat sushi in the South Bay?
Sanraku is where you’ll find them! Joe, one of the Enoteca owners, gets together periodically to exchange notes and learn a few things from seasoned restaurant operator Don Durante (owner of notable South Bay hot-spots Cascal in Mountain View and co-owner of Black Sheep Brasserie in Willow Glen). He suggested one time they meet at Sanraku in the Oakridge Shopping Mall! Joe responded with “I don’t do shopping mall sushi”. He had spent a fateful week in the coastal city of Iwaki in Japan for a close friend’s wedding ,where after one sublime sushi experience after another, he never thought of sushi the same way again. It became more of an endeared cultural experience than a meal. But, more out of respect for Don than the expectation of good sushi, Joe joined Don at Sanraku-in the mall!!!! Japanese sushi chef and entrepreneur, Hiro Hattori has his fish flown in from the legendary Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. It turned out to be a shockingly moving and authentic experience. That Tuesday evening, they ran into Jeff Fitzgerald, previously Chef du Cuisine at Dio Deka in Los Gatos and currently executive chef at the Black Sheep Brasserie. As I started telling some industry friends about my experience, it became clear that local chefs and industry people were frequenting this place and it appears it is a bit of an industry secret. Jim Stump, a guy with no lack of experience and currently owner of and partner in 3 South Bay eatieries including the Forthright Oyster Bar and Vesper in Campbell said, “It’s the best and most authentic (sushi) locally. It’s the go-to spot for Philippe Breneman who had the opportunity to train with David Kinch and was the founding chef at “The Lexington house” in Los Gatos…” The list goes on and there are few who did not want to be quoted here for fear exposing their destination and losing their seat at the bar.
