Join us in San Jose for the exclusive South Bay tasting of these grappas and amaros, a favorite of Enoteca partner Joe Cannistraci. Enjoy sipping as you hear stories and the distillation process from Sibona owner & CEO, Luigi Barbero.
The Antica Distilleria Domenico Sibona S.p.A. is situated in the Roero zone, in the communal district of Piobesi d’Alba, a few kilometres from Alba. It was founded about a hundred years ago on the former premises of an old kiln. The distillery is located in the center of an important wine zone, where the most typical varietals from Piedmont are cultivated: Nebbiolo, from which Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero wines are created according to their own zones of production, along with Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Chardonnay, Arneis and Brachetto vines. Sibona is one of the historic distilleries in the Piedmont region and can boast the oldest distillation licence, the N° 1, issued by UTF (the official institution that regulates all the operations having to do with distilleries). This is a synonym for a great past and ongoing prestige production.
Luigi was on his way to completing a degree in Engineering but a constant pull to the beverage business and a death in the Sibona family brought him to the distillery in the early 90’s. There, he turned his passion towards increasing both the quantity and the quality of the Sibona line of products. Today, Luigi continues to push himself and the distillery to new heights, and in 2016 the Sibona Grappa Port Wood Finish received an award for Best Grappa at the IWSC in London.
This is a casual, stand up tasting. Tasting fee will be applied as a credit towards any bottles purchased on event night.
