Join us as we welcome Gabrizia Cellai from Collemattoni, a Brunello producer from Montalcino Italy, to ELS for a tasting event not to be missed. Imported by Girasole Imports, Collemattoni is quickly becoming one of the top names in the region. We will be tasting all 4 wines in their lineup along with some light aperitivi - this is a casual, walk up tasting. A little more on the estate from the winery:
Collemattoni represents one of the emerging niche wineries in Montalcino. Marcello Bucci together with the family manages the vineyards and the winery trying to respect the area where he was born, promoting the beauty of the Sangiovese varietal.
Collemattoni takes its name from the farmhouse, which, over time, has become the trademark of our winery and of our wines. The farmhouse dates to 1672 and is located on a hill top on the south side of the municipal area of Montalcino, just a short distance from the village of Sant’Angelo in Colle.
The first record of the Bucci family dates to 1798 with Giuseppe Bucci head of a large family. Today, the estate is run by Marcello Bucci with his family and it covers around 12 hectares of vineyards located in five different slots, where Marcello produces Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino.
In 2012 Collemattoni has obtained the organic (organic grapes) and everything is done in the full respect of the environment. Thanks to the presence of a biomass fueled heating system and solar panels, we produce the 80% of the electricity needed at the winery.
