* The grey market is a secondary market that is run by brokers in Europe who buy wine from various sources abroad that may not be the actual producers. They are then sold to retailers in California sight unseen and then presold to consumers at discounted prices who pay up front and then wait up to year for they’re arrival. Grey Market wines often have secondary labels to meet California standards such as a thin strip indicating alcohol content. Our main concern with grey market wines is that they’re path from the producer can never be confirmed thus we cannot vouch for their integrity or condition. This becomes a particular problem when wines are purchased for ageing and the damage is not revealed for years after the purchase.
